It ends with the team in a circle gathering around their coach, Bologna’s wonderful adventure this season and that of Thiago Motta on the rossoblù bench. The coach greets his players like this: close in their embrace, and then goes to look for them one by one. The one with De Silvestri is beautiful, long and heartfelt. “We are closing a beautiful cycle,” commented a visibly emotional Thiago Motta to Sky’s microphones after the match against Genoa. “We experienced many emotions during an excellent championship: it is a group that has made the history of this club. I think I accomplished an important job from the first day to the last, with the utmost commitment and respect. In Bologna I leave my love and passion, ambition and great respect for the players I had the privilege of coaching. I love each of them equally, I wish these guys and this team the best. I truly thank them.”
“I will always be there for them”
And how much he cares for them is confirmed when he is asked what he will “take away” from Bologna, in his next experience: “My boys, as I have always done in this job, since I started. I will no longer be their coach, but I will remain a father, a friend or an older brother, whatever they want. If they need me, they can always count on me. It worked because I gave everything for them and they gave everything for me.”
