From Judo Champion to Lawyer: Mina Coulombe Returns to Her Roots

After 11 years outside her native region, studying law and her Bar in her pocket, high-level judo athlete Mina Coulombe returns to her roots to plead in her new career.

In addition to having made her mark as a judoka, Mina Coulombe has always been proud to represent the Baie-Comeau Judo Club. Even during the last eleven years when she represented a Montreal club.

Baie-Comeau always close to her, she participated in major competitions on the national and international scales.

She has also received titles such as Canadian champion in different categories, six times.

Robin Gagné, today Sensei technical director for the Baie-Comeau Judo Club, trained her from a very young age and became a role model for her.

“He’s really a mentor on the mats and outside as well,” Ms. Coulombe told the newspaper. The Manicadding that during some competitions, she turned to him even though he no longer trained her.

After winning awards at the Pan American Games, the Junior European Cup, the Canada Cup, the Ontario Open and several provincial events, Mina Coulombe is bowing out.

It was following an operation that this decision proved necessary. Convalescing for six months while completing her Bar internship, destiny was made for Maître Coulombe to be able to devote herself to her new career as a lawyer within Legal Aid of Baie-Comeau.

With a few formalities remaining to be completed before his big return, Me Coulombe is looking forward to practicing general law within the walls of the Baie-Comeau courthouse.

The one who traveled from Sherbrooke to Montreal in order to juggle sports and studies at university has become a model for the Judo Québec organization.

“On the mats or in her studies, Mina constitutes an example for new generations of athletes who pursue their sporting and academic careers simultaneously,” we can read on their social networks.
