It all happened in the evening. The two students, one 14 years old and the other 15 years old, had threw firecrackers in the garden of the professor’s house and he had reacted violently, hitting them on the head with a baseball bat. The doctors, who examined and treated the 14-year-old due to the blows he had suffered, they spoke of 23 injuries: today the Court expressed its opinion.

What had happened
On the evening of February 14, 2021, Professor Poli’s two students went outside his house and started throwing firecrackers into the house. Some, however, were finished in the garden of his home, which the professor shared with his family. Once he saw the two students outside the house and identified them as responsible for the stunt, Poli flew into a rage and left armed with a baseball bat. Chased for a few meters, the students were then chased by the teacher and they were beaten up.

The 15-year-old suffered injuries which then healed in a few weeks while the 14-year-old suffered consequences to his hands, wrist and shoulders, as well as post traumatic stress syndrome and a head injury which required 20 stitches and because of which he had to say goodbye to football forever.
The prosecution and the defense
The professor has always denied it of having left the house armed and has always maintained that he had completely lost control due to fear: according to him, in fact, the two students were threatening to set fire to his house. Assisted by the lawyer Luca Broli, before the sentence issued by the Court of Brescia he had apologized to the families of the two boys and had offered them compensation.
One of the two families accepted, withdrawing the form of civil action while the other refused the offer of compensation and continued with the complaint. The court, therefore, expressed itself: he is sentenced to one year in prison, which due to the pardon will not make him go to prison, and to compensation of 9 thousand euros.
