“The Sports Department of the Colombian Football Federation – FCF and the coaching staff of the Colombian Senior National Team, led by technical director Néstor Lorenzo, are permitted to inform the list of players called up for the international friendly matches prior to the CONMEBOL Copa América 2024,” says the official statement.

Lorenzo Surprises

Among the big surprises of the call for the Colombian National Team is the forward Miguel Ángel Borja, who earned a place on the list with goals in River Plate of Argentina.

A similar situation exists for midfielder Sebastián Gómez, who has shone with a good performance at Coritiba in Brazil and earned the stripes to be in the group. It remains to be seen if he will travel with the 26 called up to the United States.

Finally, there is center back Yerson Mosquera, who closed a great season at Villarreal in Spain with goals and could fight for the position of Yerry Mina, who has also just finished a good campaign in Italy.

Concentration in Barranquilla

The Colombian National Team will gather from next May 27 at the FCF sports headquarters in Barranquilla, to prepare for its trip to the United States, where they will play two friendly matches.

“The matches will take place on June 8 and 15 against the United States and Bolivia, respectively. The national team will gather in Barranquilla from May 27 to June 5, the day they will travel to Washington, United States, the city that will host the Selection until June 13,” says the FCF.

And he adds: Subsequently, those summoned by Professor Lorenzo will take a flight to Hartford, Connecticut, where they will face the Bolivian National Team. Finally, the National Team will arrive in Houston, on June 20, to face its first match in the CONMEBOL Copa América against the Paraguayan National Team.”
