Dallas Mavericks Extend Jason Kidd’s Contract as Head Coach; Look to Future Success

In the middle of a playoff ride that started well (with the victory over the Clippers) and which now encounters the obstacle of the Thunder (number 1 seed in the West), the Dallas Mavericks choose to look ahead and confirm Jason Kidd on their bench also for the future. The former NBA champion had said he was “confident of being able to renew soon”, wearing the Dallas shirt, in 2011, and so it was, with the words of esteem of GM Nico Harrison who sanctioned a new multi-year agreement. “I can’t think of a better candidate to lead this team as it grows,” he said, noting that Kidd has “earned the trust and respect of the players and so many people throughout the league.” Now in his third season on the Mavs bench as head coach – after previous experiences in Brooklyn and Milwaukee – Kidd has led the Mavs to the playoffs twice out of three (in 2022 until the conference final), winning this year also the Southwest Division title. At the helm of Dallas he won 57% of the games played in the regular season (140-106 record) while in the playoffs he had 13 victories against 11 defeats.
