Cleveland has announced that it has parted ways with coach JB Bickerstaff. This decision comes a week after the elimination of the Cavaliers in the semi-finals of the NBA Eastern Conference by Boston.
“This kind of decision is never easy to make, especially when you remember where this franchise’s rebuild started under his leadership,” Cavaliers general manager Koby Altman said of Bickerstaff, in position since February 2020.
For his fifth season in Cleveland, Bickerstaff led the Cavs to fourth place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 48 wins and 34 losses during the regular season. In the Conference semi-finals, the Cavaliers, deprived in particular during the last two matches of their star leader Donovan Mitchell, were dismissed in five matches by the Celtics.
