Chloé Paquet easily qualifies for the second round of Roland-Garros

It’s difficult to better honor an invitation to a Grand Slam final draw than what Chloé Paquet did. 139th in the WTA rankings, Paquet reached the final of the WTA 125 in Saint-Malo in early May. Recently, she beat Sofia Kenin in qualifying for the WTA 500 in Strasbourg. Enough to show confidence before this first round where the 47th in the world, the Russian Diana Shnaider, victorious in the Clarins Trophy a week ago, awaited her.

And the least we can say is that the Frenchwoman took the match in the right direction. Well in her shots, she took her opponent’s serve three times in the first set and took the lead. Boosted, she was alone on the court in a one-sided second set. She thus signs her second Grand Slam victory after a first round at Roland-Garros, already in 2017.

She now has an appointment with the Czech Katerina Siniakova, seeded n°32, for a place in the 3rd round.
