Chihuahua Dorados Secure Third Consecutive Victory with 6-5 Win Over Caliente Club

Chihuahua, Chih.- The Chihuahua Dorados offense supported a good start by Félix Doubront, and, for the first time this season, the “Northern Division” has won three consecutive games, after beating the Caliente club 6-5 this Wednesday night of Durango, at the Chihuahua Monumental Stadium.

The Venezuelan left-hander Doubront worked for six innings – and one batter -, receiving six hits, striking out six opponents, walking two and allowing two runs.

Chihuahua attacked in the second episode, when Puerto Rican Manny García found a partner in the paths and hit a home run to the left, off the pitches of Frank Duncan.

Right-hander Duncan was ambushed in the fourth inning, as a walk to Kristian Delgado, a double by Sebastián Elizalde and a hit to Leobaldo Piña, filled the house. Manny García drove in a run with a sacrifice fly and then Carlos Herrera drove in two more thanks to a double to center.

Herrera scored with a double from Carlos Negret.

The Caliente club played Doubront until the fifth inning, when Manny Olloque hit an unstoppable hit to center field that became a triple. Then Olloque scored on a ground ball by Carlos Garzón.

After retiring the sixth inning with some problems, Doubront came out for the seventh, but only faced one batter, James Nelson, who singled him. Gleyvin Pineda then came on in relief, but Michael Robles met him with a home run to left field.

In the eighth inning, Manuel Boscán singled to center, but the ball was passed to Jesús Manuel Martínez and the runner reached third, and then scored on a hit by Robbie Glendinning.

Without his closer Brian Schlitter available due to a suspension, Porfirio López was in charge of getting the last two outs, but José Sermo brought Durango close with a home run to left. In the end, López was able to save the game.

Chihuahua will seek its first sweep of the season this Thursday, in the third of the series, at 7:00 p.m.
