Blind Karateka René Steinhübel Wins German Championship Title

Wemding’s almost blind karateka René Steinhübel spends a lot of time in the TSV Wemding dojo. On the one hand, he trains his katas, the performances that he shows at competitions, and on the other hand, the holder of the 2nd Dan (master degree) is active as a trainer. That’s why the training was used to congratulate Steinhübel on his German championship title. Mayor Dr. Martin Drexler as well as sports speaker Roland Schuster and TSV chairman Anton Eireiner were full of praise for the karateka, who represents the city of Wemding even from afar. Steinhübel has been showing consistently strong performances at state and national tournaments for many years, which was also emphasized by the laudators.

Steinhübel himself was very happy to have now reached the top spot on the podium after being runner-up last year. It was definitely an advantage for him that the tournament was now being held for the second time in Elsenfeld, Lower Franconia, and the local conditions were therefore known. Steinhübel reported an impressive backdrop; over 300 participants in various classes took part in the tournament.
