Barça Junior Basketball Team Crowned Spanish Champions with Victory over Real Madrid

The Barça junior basketball team has been proclaimed Spanish Champion by beating Real Madrid 79-53 in the final this Saturday. The Blaugranas thus close a great week in Huelva by lifting the title, which adds to the Catalan Championship won on April 21. Now the team has another great challenge ahead, the Next Generation Tournament in Berlin, which will be held from May 23-26 coinciding with the Euroleague Final Four.

The blaugranas started the game with great intensity. The good defense of the culé team caused them to be ahead at the end of the first quarter (18-14). In the second, a great partial by the Blaugranas, with an inspired Kasparas Jakucionis (26 points), allowed Barça to go into the break eleven points ahead (41-30).

After the restart, the Blaugranas maintained the pace and managed to increase the lead to 15 points during the third quarter. Already in the last period, the team has not relaxed, it has increased the gap and has won the Spanish Championship by 79-53.

Kasparas Jakucionis was named MVP of the final and the tournament. The Lithuanian finished the final with 26 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists, being the great figure of the game.

The Barça Junior thus closes an excellent Spanish Championship. First in the group stage, the team clearly beat CD Don Bosco (101-59) in the round of 16. In the quarterfinals, Carlos Marín’s team won at the Casademont Zaragoza 64-57 in a very hard-fought match.

In the semifinals, the Blaugranas beat Bàsquet Manresa 85-82, earning the right to play in the final against Real Madrid, where they were proclaimed Spanish champions.
