Baltimore Orioles Dominate New York Yankees with 7-2 Win

The Baltimore Orioles scored seven runs off Carlos Rodon to earn a 7-2 victory over the New York Yankees.

After seeing Anthony Rizzo give the Yankees the lead in the third inning, the Orioles exploded with seven runs in the space of three innings against the Yankees left-hander.

Ryan Moutcastle, Jorge Mateo and Ryan McKenna all hit solo home runs. Mountcastle drove in another run with a single in the fifth and Westburg chased Rodon from the game after a two-run triple.

After an excellent start to the season, where he had a 2.48 ERA in 32.2 innings on the mound, Rodon had his worst start against the powerful Orioles offense. Gunner allowed seven runs (six earned) on eight hits in four innings of work. He was unable to score a takedown in his fateful fifth inning.

In his first start of the season, Kyle Bradish was efficient in four and two-thirds innings. The man who finished fourth in the Cy-Young voting last year allowed just one run on four hits and two walks. He struck out five batters. Bradish has been sidelined since the start of the campaign with a right elbow injury.

Gleyber Torres hit his first home run of the season in the loss, while Juan Soto hit a single and a triple.

In this first series of the season between the two East American rivals, the Orioles had the upper hand by winning three of the four duels. The Orioles pitchers were dominant in limiting the Bronx Bombers to just six runs in four games.
