Álvaro Leal Makes History as Absolute Badminton Champion of Spain, Dethroning Tomas Toledano

The Toledo Alvaro Leal was crowned absolute badminton champion of Spain in the tournament held in Cartagena.

The men’s singles title changed hands for the first time in 15 years. Álvaro Leal, only 22 years old, defeated in the final Tomas Toledano. He beat his rival by a double 21-13, taking control of the match from the beginning.

It was a gold medal that obviously tasted great to the new champion, who completed an excellent championship, improving the silver medal he achieved last year in Seville 2023.

The final was a tough match despite the clarity of the final result. It so happened that they were the same protagonists of the under-19 final held in La Nucia in 2019.

They were absolute, para-badminton and inclusive Spanish Championships to remember, not only for the crowning of the new national champions but for the endless emotions experienced throughout the weekend in Cartagena.
