The men’s Olympic team comes close to bronze

The race of the Olympic men’s national team stops again at the foot of the podium in the second stage of the World Cup. The Italians Matteo Borsani, Mauro Nespoli and Federico Musolesi, just like what happened to Bilisari, Borsani and Frangilli in the first stage in Shanghai, reach the final which is worth the bronze in Yecheon (KOR) but fail to get on the podium beaten by Canada 6- 2.

Nothing to do for both the Italian recurve players and the compound players, eliminated before being able to access the finals. Tomorrow, during the Italian night, the mixed team and individual preliminaries of the Olympic arch will take place.

ITALY FOURTH IN THE TEAM – The Italian men’s Olympic team confirms itself in great form, after having obtained the pass for the Olympic Games and the silver at the recent European Championships in Essen (Ger), reaching the challenge for the bronze in the Cup of the World with a thrilling route. Matteo Borsani, Mauro Nespoli and Federico Musolesi in fact beat the world vice champions Turkey (Gazoz, Tumer, Yildirmis) 5-4 (28-25) in the shoot-off, then they repeat it again in the play-off arrows against China (Kao, Qi , Wang) 5-4 (29*-29). In the semi-final the Italian team had to submit to the masters of South Korea (Kim W., Kim J., Lee) who closed the match 5-1 on their home shooting line. The Azzurri thus approach the challenge for the bronze against Canada (Peters, Wilson-Poyton, Xuereb) who starts better and immediately takes the lead 2-0 (57-54). Italy equalized in the following volley (56-52), but failed to do better than their opponents in the next two rounds of volleys: 57-56 and 57-55. A result that takes them to the foot of the podium and is worth other useful points for the world ranking.

THE OTHER RESULTS – South Korea (Jeon, Lim, Nam) eliminated the women’s team made up of Tatiana Andreoli, Lucilla Boari and Chiara Rebagliati in the quarter-finals. The Italians lose 5-3 after beating Mexico with the same result (Ruiz, Valencia, Vazquez). For them too, a useful path to add points to the world ranking, valid for obtaining passes for Paris 2024 after the last qualifying match which they will play on 14 June in Antalya (Tur).

On the Korean day, the compounds also returned to the field for the individual preliminaries, the best of the Italians being Elisa Roner and Marcella Tonioli, eliminated in the round of 16. The former wins 143-142 over the American Krahe but then stops against the host Han Seungyeon

(146-142), first at the end of qualifications; the second beat the Singaporean archer Loh 141-140, repeated the shoot-off with the second on the scoreboard Shkolna (LUX) 145-145 (10*-10) and finally was defeated by the American Alexis Ruiz 143-139. Francesca Aloisi out in the first round, beaten 145-139 by the Thai Maneesombatkul.

In the men’s Michea Godano beats the Australian Wildman 144-140 but is eliminated from number one on the Fullerton (DEN) scoreboard 146-143, same path for Elia Fregnan after 142-142 (10-9) with the Mexican Mendez Ortiz and the 146-147 with Iranian Priyansh. Marco Bruno goes out in the first match, defeated 141-130 by the Israeli Yamrom.
