The future is now. Once the Champions League was won and the celebrations ended during the night, Thiago Motta and Bologna said goodbye.

It didn’t help and around lunchtime the official announcement arrived: the coach will leave Bologna at the natural end of his contract on 30 June.
But tomorrow Bologna will play their last match in Genoa and then the coach will return to his home in Cascais, Portugal. In short, it’s time for greetings, those that formally arrive from Bologna, which makes it clear that the decision has been made immediately: “This morning Thiago Motta communicated to the Club his intention not to renew his contract with Bologna FC 1909. Taken “according to the decision, the Club thanks the coach for the extraordinary work done and wishes him the best of luck for the rest of his career.”
It’s impossible not to thank the man who brought Bologna back to the Champions League 60 years after their last participation in the then Champions Cup: “In these two years I have met a prepared and winning coach – is the note from the rossoblù president Joey Saputo – who gave the team a brilliant playing identity. Thiago Motta had made it known in the last week that communications on his future would be joint.
