Aston Villa coach Unai Emery, who arrived in October 2022, transformed the Villans in a few months. Fourteenth in the Premier League when the Basque arrived, the Birmingham club concluded the 2022-2023 financial year in 7th place before impressing even more this season (4th and semi-final of the Europa Conference League).
On the club’s website, Unai Emery spoke of “a very special day” and expressed his excitement about his team’s future: “It has been our dream since the start of the season to be at this place. Playing the Champions League is, after the Premier League, the best thing. I want to enjoy more and next year a new challenge begins for us. Rebuilding a team and being strong to always go further, that’s our goal.” At the end of the Championship, Aston Villa travels to Crystal Palace (12th) this Sunday.
