Trade Proposal: Blazers to Send Jerami Grant to Raptors in NBA Deal

As time passes and Grant’s contract with the Blazers remains in place, it may become increasingly challenging for Portland to find a trade deal. Despite his value as a teammate and experienced player, his large contract may hinder the team’s progress moving forward.

Andy Bailey from Bleacher Report proposed a trade idea where Jerami Grant would be traded to the Toronto Raptors in exchange for Bruce Brown, switching first-round picks in 2028, and a second-round pick in 2027.

The Blazers are unlikely to trade Grant and instead may choose to invest in hopes of increasing his value or waiting until the disadvantages of keeping him outweigh the advantages.

The Portland Trail Blazers need to make some adjustments to their team, which may include separating from some of their expensive contracts.

Unfortunately, Grant’s agreement is demanding as it extends until the year 2027-28 and includes a .4 million option for him as a player. However, he has managed to maintain an average of 20.7 points and a 40.2 percent accuracy rate from three-point range during his time with the Portland team.

The main priority for Portland is to rid themselves of the Grant contract that was agreed upon before last summer’s Damian Lillard trade. This agreement accomplishes that goal and also slightly enhances the team’s chances in the draft while adding another experienced player in Brown, whom they could potentially trade before February.

There is a possibility that Grant’s remaining four-year contract could fetch Portland more than just a contract that is about to expire, a pick exchange, and an extra second-round pick. However, due to the length of his contract, his worth is not very high.
