who is stronger between Scamacca and Raspadori?

Little by little, but not too much, we are getting closer to the European Championships. There are certainly many doubts for Spalletti’s Italy. The main issue to be resolved, however, seems to be the one linked to central tip. Without forgetting Reteguiwhat good he is doing with Genoa and also with the national team itself, the duel could be between Scamacca and Raspadori. But who is the stronger of the two? Trying to answer leads to analyzing in detail and specifically many points, many aspects and many issues.

Scamacca, from the first steps in the capital to the Anfield dream

Born in Rome in 1999, after starting in Cisco Rome, at the age of ten he moved to Lazio youth sector, where among others, he is also trained by Cesar. After a while, however, it’s there that picks him up Romawith whom he trains and plays under the guidance of another former great striker, namely Roberto Muzzi. The first big leap for him came in 2015, when he purchased it PSV Eindhoven. The good Gianluca begins to gain experience, reaching the second team of the Dutch club. The professional debut with Jong PSV dates back to 2016, when the Roman was 17 years old. However, the return to Italy is around the corner.

In fact, in January 2017, it was the Sassuolo, who includes him in his Primavera. It shows off in the Viareggio Tournament, where he scored three goals. He was added to the first team, making his debut in Serie A. The neroverdi, however, understood that the player needed further experience. And here comes the loan to Cremonese. With the Lombards, Scamacca scored his first professional goal: it was 14 April 2018 and the striker scored the final 1-1 against Palermo. Having returned to Emilia, there is a second loan, to the Dutch Zwolle, where however it fails to shine. The class of 1999 still manages to redeem himself with the shirts of Ascoli(9 goals) and above all with the Genoa. In fact, it was with the Ligurians that the first goal in Serie A came and, among other things, not in just any match, i.e. the derby with Sampdoria. And the reply also arrives in the Coppa Italia derby, even with a brace. He ended the season with 8 goals in the league and 4 in the Italian Cup. In short, the feeling with the goal is there.

In the summer of 2021 Sassuolo decides to definitively focus on him. And never could a choice be more right. Playing in the trident with Berardi and Raspadori, he ends the season with 16 goals in the championship. Numbers that cannot leave anyone indifferent and therefore Scamacca becomes one of the men on the transfer market. The one to grab it is the West Ham, which invests 36 million euros plus six in bonuses. With them Hammers scores his first goal in Europe and wins the Conference League. In reality, however, his adventure is disappointing to say the least, given also some physical problems, which lead him to have to operate to solve a problem with the meniscus of his right knee. And at that point the call of Italy is too strong. A reminder that is called Atalanta. The rest is history this year. The attacker, it’s true, doesn’t have much continuity, due to constant physical problems, but he’s still doing his best, given his 8 goals in the championship. His night, however, was that of Anfield, where he became the first Italian to score a brace in Liverpool’s stadium. Not a small thing.

Raspadori, a career with important goals

Born in Bentivoglio in 2000, a town in the province of Bologna, after starting in Progresso Calcio, is noticed by Sassuolo’s observers, the club with which he spent his entire youth career, showing off on more than one occasion. It is no coincidence that at 14 years old he rejected important offers from top Italian clubs such as Milan, Inter and Roma. In 2017 he joined the Neroverde Primavera, where he scored nine goals and six assists. In short, impressive numbers, which led him to join the first team on a permanent basis in 2019. There’s a certain guy on the bench Roberto De Zerbi, who is the one who made him debut in Serie A: it was May 26, 2019.

The following year, characterized by Covid, came his first appearance as a starter and it wasn’t one of those that went unnoticed. In fact, on July 11, 2020, at the Olimpico against Lazio, he scores his first goal in Serie A. The encore comes with Genoa. In short, there is no shortage of talent and an eye for goal. The following season he alternates with Ciccio Caputo, finding a fair amount of continuity. The first double also arrives, which, once again, is not one of those of little importance, because made at San Siro against Milan. The 2021-2022 championship is that of his consecration, as he becomes a starter, in the trident with Berardi and Scamacca. The 10 goals in 38 appearances are worth the call from Napoli.

With the Neapolitans there are also the first European goals, complete with a brace against Ajax. But above all there is that goal at Juventus’ home which is the signature at the bottom of the Azzurri’s shield. In short, with 6 goals in 33 appearances, the good Jack is one of the heroes of the Italian flag. This year he is paying, like everyone else, for a less than positive year. But his haul of five goals in the championship proves that However, Raspadori is always there. And on the other hand, Spalletti, who coached him in Campania, knows him well.

Scamacca and Raspadori, together or alternatively?

The question everyone is asking, also seeing the experience he had at Sassuolo, is whether Scamacca and Raspadori can also play together in the national team or should be considered alternatives. To answer you need to look at the characteristics. The Napoli striker certainly makes flexibility his strong point, being able to act as first, second striker and even as a winger in a trident. The Atalanta player is instead the classic tall and powerful central striker, although he certainly does not lack technical skills. In short, coexistence is undoubtedly possible, even if a lot depends on the tactical plans of the coach and the list of players called up.

So who is stronger? Certainly the native of Bentivoglio, he can adapt to various situations and has repeatedly demonstrated that he knows how to score and let his teammates score. Furthermore, his speed and his speed are no small weapons. The Capitoline suffers from some physical problems so, in these two seasons, he has had less continuity. But, his characteristics, particularly from a physical point of view, seem to be what Italy is missing. In short, let’s face it: we will both take them.
