WC hockey | Finland – Czech Republic 0:4, Great entry into the championship! The women’s hockey players coped with their rival, Peslarová returned zero

The first third was played in a more cautious spirit. Peslarová, who had to miss last year’s championship due to a long-term injury, did not have to deal with any serious situation, on the other hand, the Czechs threatened until just before the siren, but Neubauerová’s shot from overcounting was not taken.

The representative women continued their activity even after the break. Tereza Vanišová had a huge chance to open the scoring, who had already got behind Aholaová, but she hit the post with a backhand and the goalkeeper neutralized the shot with a great save.

However, the national team converted the subsequent opportunity in the 28th minute. Natália Mlýnková’s shot from an angle was not stopped by Aholaová, and the first to reach the puck was 17-year-old forward Adéla Šapovalivová, who knocked the puck into the net.

The Czech players then created a lot of pressure, but did not convert their chances. Peslarová also had to deal with difficult situations after that, but she coped and in the 37th minute another Czech goal came. Klára Hymlárová fired over the defender, found the puck and with a backhand beat her teammate from the University of St. Cloud State.

Even at the beginning of the third period, the representatives controlled the game and at one point even led in shots 30:11. Finland then tried to dramatize the duel and reduced the ratio of shots to 21:33, but did not get any great chances.

The Northerners tried to take a risk and called the goalkeeper three and a half minutes before the end, but the Czechs punished them twice and Mlýnková got into the empty goal and Tereza Plosová adjusted the score to make it 4:0.

The Czech women’s hockey players have a day off on Thursday, they will challenge the home team USA on the night from Friday to Saturday, Canada on Sunday evening and Switzerland on Tuesday. All teams from the better-performing Group A advance to the quarterfinals.
