Was Kylian Mbappé the reason? Harry Kane was probably Real Madrid’s number one transfer target

A report from Relevo shows that Ancelotti had chosen Kane as the number 1 transfer target – ahead of Jude Bellingham, who ultimately came to Spain from Borussia Dortmund for 103 million euros and found his way around the new environment splendidly.

Ancelotti wanted Kane to be the successor to Karim Benzema, who left Los Blancos last summer for Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia. But according to Relevo, Real President Florentino Pérez vetoed the decision.

Pérez was willing to accept a season without a real world-class nine in order to finally sign Kylian Mbappé in the summer of 2024. The Frenchman is now expected to actually come to Madrid; he will probably move from PSG to the designated Spanish champions on a free transfer.

Instead of Real, Kane ultimately moved to FC Bayern, and the Munich team transferred 95 million euros to Tottenham.

And the Englishman has made a huge impact for the German record champions, scoring 42 times in 42 competitive appearances for Bayern so far.
