Victories for Kiel and Düsseldorf in the promotion race

Holstein Kiel and Fortuna Düsseldorf achieved important victories in the promotion battle of the second German Bundesliga. On Saturday in the 29th round without ÖFB striker Benedikt Pichler, the Kiel team defeated bottom team VfL Osnabrück 4-0 and at least temporarily took over the top of the table with 58 points, ahead of St. Pauli (57) and Düsseldorf (52). Fortuna won 2-0 in Wiesbaden, Marlon Mustapha sat on the visitors’ bench and was not used.

The game between SC Paderborn and Karlsruher SC ended 1-1, with Viennese central defender Christoph Kobald playing for KSC.
