On the 15th, Teru Sone (Park 24), who will be competing in the Asian Judo Championships (20th to 23rd, Hong Kong) and is representing the Paris Olympics in the women’s 78 kg+ class, answered an online interview ahead of the competition and said, “(March… ) I wasn’t able to do judo the way I wanted at the Grand Slam (GS) Tbilisi tournament.I want to create my own kumite and be able to do my own judo at the Asian Championships.”

After missing out on the podium at the GS Tbilisi tournament, finishing in 5th place, it was decided to participate in this tournament at short notice. Although he has been offered a spot on the Olympic team by the All Japan Judo Federation, he is ranked 20th in the Olympic rankings and his seeding status is uncertain. There was a possibility that there would be one more race after the Asian Championships, but he said, “The result in Tbilisi wasn’t what I expected, so it was difficult to change my mind, but the people around me encouraged me, and I was finally able to move forward.” ” he revealed.
Sanshiro Murao (JES Group), who is also a member of the men’s 90kg class and is representing the Paris Olympics, also responded to the interview, saying, “This will be the last match before the Olympics. The number of participants (participating) is one thing, but the number of matches and the interval will be similar to the Olympics. So I want to keep that in mind as well,” he said with enthusiasm.
