Paris 2024 Olympic Games: French sprinter Mouhamadou Fall suspended for nine months for doping and deprived of the Games

The sanction fell for Mouhamadou Fall, and it is heavy. The French sprinter (32 years old), quadruple French champion over 100m, received nine months of suspension from the French Anti-Doping Agency (AFLD) this Monday, his lawyer announced to AFP, Christophe Ayela. He is suspended for nine months “from today,” said Mr. Ayela, adding that he was studying appeals.

As feared, it is therefore the Paris 2024 Olympic Games which will undoubtedly fly away for him. On July 28, Fall tested positive for a stimulant, heptaminol, during the French athletics championships during which he was crowned in the 100m. The sprinter pleaded accidental contamination via food supplements on April 10, Wednesday before the sanctions committee of the French Anti-Doping Agency (AFLD) in Paris.

Mouhamadou Fall is also engaged in another procedure with the AFLD, which accuses him of three breaches of his anti-doping location obligations in 2022. After an acquittal at first instance, the AFLD filed an appeal before the Council of State, which is still in progress.
