The Florentine knocks out the former n.1 in the ranking and awaits Kalinina ROME (ITALPRESS) – Crisis-busting victory for Martina Trevisan in the first round of the “Open Capfinances Rouen Metropole” (WTA 250 – prize money 232,244 dollars), promoted by this year to the higher category (until 2023 it was a WTA 125), which is being played on the red clay courts of the “Kindarena Sports Complex” in the capital of Normandy, in northern France.

The 30-year-old left-handed Florentine, n.78 WTA, beat the Japanese Naomi Osaka, n.192 WTA, competing with her protected ranking, 6-4 6-2 in just over an hour and a half of the match. “I’m very happy with this victory. It was an honor to face a player like her who is a great person on and off the pitch – the words of a beaming Trevisan at the end of the match – I went onto the pitch to try to win the match, I played very consistently and I’m satisfied with the tennis I played. It’s nice to see so much crowd even if I didn’t notice it during the match: I was quite focused on seeing what my opponent Spero was doing on the other side that there will be even more in the next match.” Tomorrow, Thursday, in the second round Trevisan will have to face the Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina, n.32 in the ranking and third seeding favourite. – Photo Ipa Agency – (ITALPRESS). mc/com 17-Apr-24 16:38 .
