Susana Díaz’s self-criticism on Pedro Sáchez’s five days of reflection

Pedro Sánchez announced that he was staying after five days in which a good part of the PSOE, in addition to ministers, some collaborators of the president and part of the progressive citizens thought that this Monday everything would end. Sánchez announced that he would continue and promised work “for the pending regeneration of our democracy and for the advancement and consolidation of rights and freedoms.” Risto Mejide has asked Susana Díaz, PSOE senator, if she knows anything about the latter.

First of all, Spanish politics wanted to highlight that “unfortunately the jurisprudence of the Supreme Court means that when a politician appeals his right to honor, they do not automatically file it. These are political things. In the end it all boils down to the political fight . I believe in freedom of the press, that is sacred. I also believe in the independence of judges, but “We must review the jurisprudence of the Supreme Court.”

Furthermore, regarding whether she believes that the law is sufficient or not to control the spread of hoaxes, Susana thinks that what is important is the interpretation of the law in the courts: “There is an element that must be introduced, the use of social networks. “Europe is beginning to take note, but I still think we are going slowly.”

“Spain has to continue functioning”

Pedro Sánchez assured that the five days he gave himself to think about whether he was going to leave his position or not were needed by the entire citizenry. “I think he is a strong man. It was very difficult for me to see that he was not going to continue leading the Government. If instead of five it had been fewer days, better. The stability of Spain has to be above everything. Spain has to continue functioning.”

But Susana Díaz is worried about one thing: “I am no longer as concerned about the polarization and tension among politicians as the one we transfer to citizens. When you light the flame of public opinion, let’s see who ends that…”.
