Shooting at a Morena and PVEM political rally in Nuevo León leaves one injured – El Sol de México

Monterrey, NL.- A photographer of the candidate of Morena and the Green Ecologist Party of Mexico (PVEM) for the municipal presidency of El Carmen, Graciela Villarreal, was injured during a shooting that occurred at a political rally.

According to local authorities, the events occurred this Friday afternoon in the Buena Vista neighborhood, in the El Carmen municipality, located about 40 kilometers north of Monterrey, when Graciela Villarreal was holding her political rally, at which two men arrived. board a vehicle to activate their firearms.

In the attack, the photographer who accompanies the Moreno candidate for mayor to political events was injured by a gunshot wound and at least seven other people were injured by blows and pushes while trying to flee the scene.

A source from the local police in El Carmen said that the injured person is a 33-year-old man, who was taken to a hospital with an injury, while the candidate was unharmed and was escorted away from the scene.

El Carmen is a small town that is part of the so-called Valle de las Salinas, made up of at least 12 municipalities on the sides of the Monterrey-Nuevo Laredo highway.

The area is considered high risk by the authorities because clashes continually occur, in addition to the fact that 32 people have been kidnapped in the region in the last month.
