2025 season opener in Australia – sport.ORF.at

The 2025 Formula 1 season will open in Australia for the first time since 2019. This was announced on Friday. The race in Melbourne is on the program at the start because the races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia that took place at the start of this year will be postponed to April 2025 due to Ramadan.

Australia will be followed next year by China and then Japan, with the aim of reducing the long journeys in the Grand Prix circus, which have recently been heavily criticized. A total of 24 races are on the program next year; the Austrian Grand Prix in Spielberg has been scheduled for the weekend from June 27th to 29th.

“2025 will be a special year because we are celebrating the 75th birthday of Formula 1,” said managing director Stefano Domenicali, referring to the first season of the racing series in 1950. Back then there were seven races, six in Europe, one in the USA (Indianapolis). .
