Ryan Warner Takes on New Role as Head Football Coach at Pebble Hills High School

Ryan Warner is excited for his new challenge as a high school football coach.

On Friday at Pebble Hills High School, he was formally introduced as the new head football coach at the school.

Warner replaces Mark Torres, who left to become the head football coach at Buda Hays High School near Austin. Warner becomes the second head football coach in school history.

Torres won 47 games in eight years with the Spartans, including a combined 18 games in 2022 and 2023.

Warner spent time on Franklin’s staff before serving time as Chapin’s head coach, where he spent four years as head coach. His best season was in 2021 when the Huskies won nine games and a bi-district title.

“It was emotional to say goodbye to the kids at Chapin, said Warner, a 2004 graduate of Chapin. “Chapin has great kids and kids who will do great things and the school means a great deal to me. Pebble Hills is a great opportunity for me and my professional development and I’m excited for the opportunity. We have spring practice coming and that will be big for us as we look to grow and get an idea of where we are at.”

Warner singled out veteran El Paso coaches Scott Brooks from Canutillo and Daren Walker from Franklin along with Torres as mentors he’s leaned on for advice through this change.

“We’re going to play fast and be physical,” Warner said. “We’re going to work hard every day to get better.”
