Raphael Dubois enjoys a little more time with his family in Vairao, before departure. This Thursday he will be in Paris and will prepare to be an ambassador for the Olympic Games celebrations. Even though he could have volunteered at the surfing events on his island: “It’s my home, Teahupoo, it’s right next door too. I would have liked to, but in France, it will be a new adventure .I’m going to step out of my comfort zone.
During this adventure, “Raphy” as his friends call him, will be responsible for welcoming, supporting and guiding the public in the youth neighborhood. But anyone who plans to become a pro in MMA intends to take advantage of it to progress. “Since it’s the Olympics, there will be athletes from judo, other disciplines…and MMA is a mix of all these sports, so maybe I’ll be able to make some contacts. ” Because he has been in Paris for two years to improve his MMA skills. He thinks that’s one of the reasons he was chosen.
In her projects, Raphy can count on the support of her parents. Moreover, if we ask his mother, Titaina, her son’s strong point for this ambassadorial mission, she answers without hesitation: “his chat! He is already good at interpersonal skills, he has a lot of ease in getting along friends and everything…I hope he continues to like it.”
Of the 500 ambassadors recruited by Paris City Hall, there are only two overseas, both Polynesians, with Teua’ura Teihoari’i. There were four of them who applied from Polynesia.
A chance that “Raphy” intends to seize to highlight Tahitian MMA.
On site, he will be accommodated at the volunteers’ house in exchange for two hours of volunteering for an association. He will be paid around 75,000 Pacific francs for this civic service contract which runs from May to October.
