This Saturday, Spanish tennis players Roberto Carballés and Pedro Martínez sealed their qualification for the finals of the tournaments in Marrakech (Morocco) and Estoril (Portugal), after beating the Russian Pavel Kotov and the Norwegian Casper Ruud.
Carballés extended his love affair with Moroccan clay to return to the final in search of repeating the title he won last year. The Canarian had a complicated semi-final against Kotov looking to make a splash. The Russian responded to a first break from the Spaniard but ended up losing the first set 6-4.
Afterwards, Carballés had to continue saving break balls, but with the arrival of the decisive games, the current champion went straight to the final (6-2). In search of his third ATP title, Carballés will face the Italian Matteo Berrettini.
On the other hand, in the second ‘semi’ of Estoril, Pedro Martínez once again showed signs of his great form, recent champion of the Girona Challenger, by defeating (6-4, 4-6, 6-4) the first seeded in the Portuguese tournament.
Ruud tried to recover from a set down, but the Valencian reached his third ATP final, in search of his second title after the one he won in 2022 in Santiago, Chile. After knocking down the Norwegian, Martínez will try to do the same with Hubert Hurkacz in the final, the Polish second seed.
