Bayern’s list of possible coaching candidates seems to be one name lighter. Ralf Rangnick apparently has no interest in working in Munich from summer onwards.

Munich – The circle of possible coaching candidates who could succeed Thomas Tuchel at FC Bayern from next summer is slowly thinning out. After Xabi Alonso, Ralf Rangnick has now also taken a public position and rejected a possible commitment to the German record champions.

Rangnick is not interested in the Bayern job

The coaching position, which would be vacant from July 1st after Tuchel leaves, is not an issue for Rangnick. “Why should I?” asked the current coach of the Austrian national team as part of a coaching workshop for the upcoming season EM 2024 in Düsseldorf.

When asked whether there had been recent talks between him and Bayern, the 65-year-old responded clearly: “No! Why should I? I feel comfortable here. I still have a contract until 2026 and our goal and path continues after the Euro.”

Rangnick talks about the crisis at Bayern: “There are fires in many places”

When asked that there was currently a crisis atmosphere at the German record champions and there was a fire, Rangnick responded quickly: “There are fires in many places.” However, that was no reason for his name to be brought into play in Bayern’s search for a coach.

“I still have a contract until the World Cup qualifiers and our focus is now on the European Championships,” Rangnick concluded. The former Manchester United coach recently led Austria successfully through qualification for the European Championship in Germany. At the European Championships, however, the group of death with France, the Netherlands and Poland awaits his team in the preliminary round.

Speculation about Nagelsmann’s return to Bayern is gaining momentum

Bayern’s list of possible Tuchel successors is one name shorter after Rangnick’s latest statements. Recently, speculation surrounding Julian Nagelsmann has been gaining momentum, according to which the national coach could return to Säbener Straße after the home European Championships. In addition to Nagelsmann, the name Roberto De Zerbi is also repeatedly associated with the Munich team. (where)
