(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Seong Do-hyeon = Badminton star Lee Yong-dae (36, Yonex) recently hosted the ‘1st All-American Badminton Competition’ in which Koreans from all over the United States participated.
Lee Yong-dae Badminton Development Association (Chairman Yong-dae Lee) and the American-Korea Badminton Association (Chairman Eung-kwon Kim) held the ‘1st All-American Badminton Tournament’ at the International Badminton Center (IBC) in Pine Brook, New Jersey, USA on the 6th (local time). It was announced on the 11th that it was done.
This competition was attended by Korean residents from all over the United States, including California, Texas, Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia, New York, Georgia, and New Jersey, and there was heated competition. The sports include men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles.
Michael Lee, head of the U.S. branch of the association, said, “It was an event attended by many Korean residents from all over the United States,” and added, “We are grateful to Lee Yong-dae for creating memories for Korean residents in the United States.”
Lee Yong-dae said, “I successfully held the first badminton event hosted in the United States under my name,” and added, “I will continue to plan events to interact with American badminton enthusiasts.”
Lee Yong-dae established the association in 2023 to foster aspiring players for the development of badminton in Korea and operate various programs such as badminton mentoring and badminton camps.
This competition is the first event hosted by the association, and a special event was prepared in which Lee Yong-dae visited the United States and competed with the competition participants.
