“Now he lies lifeless”: the moving words of Francis Ngannou, bereaved by the death of his son

He experienced what no parent should experience. This Monday, October 29, mixed martial arts (MMA) champion Francis Ngannou announced, via social networks, the death of his son Kobe, 18 months, which occurred this Saturday, April 27. Information which first found its way into the Cameroonian media, Ngannou’s country, before being confirmed by the fighter himself.

The circumstances of the young child’s death are not known. “It’s too early to go away and yet, he’s gone,” Ngannou shared in a message published on his social networks in tribute to his son, born January 13, 2023. My little boy, my friend, my partner Kobe was full of life and joy. Now he lies lifeless. I shouted his name over and over again, but he didn’t respond. »

“I was the best version of myself alongside him and now I have no idea who I am,” he continues. Life is so unfair in hitting us where it hurts the most. How do you handle this kind of thing? After his defeat in the boxing ring against Anthony Joshua in Saudi Arabia in early March, Francis Ngannou was expected to return to the cage to face Renan Ferreira. The date of the fight had still not been announced.
