Predictable. Russia will show up in force this weekend at the world judo championships in Abu Dhabi (May 19 to 23). Its delegation will include 18 athletes, all entered under neutral status. They will try to secure quotas for the Paris 2024 Games, with the world championships included in the Olympic qualification process. Russia will notably be represented by two bronze medalists at the Tokyo 2020 Games, Madina Taimazova (under 70 kg, photo above) and Tamerlan Bashayev (over 100 kg). The eighteen Russian entrants were all declared eligible by the International Judo Federation.
