Rafael Nadal was eliminated in Barcelona

Rafael Nadal’s farewell to the court named after him in Barcelona was short and warm. But it was perhaps a farewell forever, this 5:7 and 1:6 against Alex de Minaur. Nadal made 42 unforced errors and was noticeably limited when serving. Which is due to an injury to the abdominal muscles. The next few days will decide what happens next.

And that applies to the possible starts in Madrid, Rome and Roland-Garros. De Minaur, incidentally the first Australian to win against Nadal on clay, is now waiting for the winner of the game between Arthur Fils and Daniel Altmaier.

In round one, Nadal was able to win against Flavio Cobolli. He was far from that against de Minaur, who used a lot of drop shots, especially at the beginning.

The local fans at least had a little to cheer about beforehand. Roberto Bautista Agut achieved the 400th single match victory of his career with 4:6, 6:3 and 6:1. Casper Ruud is also further after a 6:3 and 6:4 against Alexandre Muller.
