FC Bayern is facing the biggest game of the season so far. Before the kick-off of the Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid, sports director Max Eberl appealed to the team. Coach Thomas Tuchel reveals how Bayern want to approach the game.

FC Bayern Munich starts the Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid with the national players Jamal Musiala and Leroy Sané, who have been in doubt for a long time, as well as Thomas Müller (click here for the live ticker). The trio, together with goal scorer Harry Kane, form the offensive in the first leg in the Munich Arena. For the 34-year-old Müller, it is the 150th appearance in Europe’s premier class. “With the four nominally offensive players, we have a lot of goal danger in and around the penalty area. “You can’t waste any chances in the semi-finals of the Champions League,” said Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel.

In addition to Musiala (knee irritation) and Sané (pubic bone problems), Konrad Laimer (capsule injury to his foot) also got fit for action on time. Matthijs de Ligt, on the other hand, is out with a knee ligament injury. The Dutchman is not in the squad. Coach Thomas Tuchel offers Minjae Kim for de Ligt in the defense center.

Before kick-off, Bayern’s sports director appealed to the team. “The boys have to give up respect for the royal coat of arms. The two games against Arsenal gave the team so much confidence, the symbiosis between the team and coach is there. The plan sounded good and I was allowed to attend the meeting. I don’t fully understand it, but it sounds very good,” said Eberl on Amazon Prime.

“Real is the best team in Europe in the transition game”

Tuchel explained his plan in outline before kick-off: “We have to convert the tension into positive energy. We need a lot of courage and a good balance. We have to play in the right spaces, then we can hurt them. But we have to be extremely careful, Real are the best team in Europe in the transition game.”

As expected, Real’s starting line-up includes the two German national players Toni Kroos and Antonio Rüdiger. The decisive second leg will take place on May 8th in Madrid. The winner will face Borussia Dortmund or Paris Saint-Germain, who will play in the second semi-final, in the final on June 1st at London’s Wembley Stadium.
