THE OPPONENTS

For the fourth consecutive year, the technical guide of Assigeco is Stefano Salieri. The coach from Bologna has designed a quintet with playmaker Filippo Gallo at the helm. A choice also made to preserve the playing time of Gherardo Sabatini, who, starting from the bench, is however always on the pitch in decisive moments. The sixth man from Piacenza is one of the three players on the roster capable of reaching double figures on average. The other two are the pair of starting wingers formed by Giovanni Veronesi and Michele Serpilli. The first, a small forward, is the best Italian scorer for the Piacenza team in the scheduled phase with an average of 13.1 points per game. The second, the power forward Serpilli, stops at 10.7 points, to which he adds 4.7 rebounds captured for every game played. The third starting winger is Nicolò Filoni, who with his 9.9 points average stops one step away from double figures. USA center Brady Skeens closes the quintet, in his second season with the rossoblu and who is confirming his skills as a true big man, with 11.3 rebounds and 9.4 points scored on average. From the bench, coach Salieri can also count on the excellent performances of guard Federico Bonacini this year, who was also just a whisker away from averaging double figures in the second phase. While two players born in 2001 complete their rotations: guard Lorenzo Querci and center Ursulo D’Almeida, a player born in Benin but trained in Italy thanks to his experience in the youth teams of Milan and Treviglio.

COACH CAGNARDI’S COMMENT

“For us it’s a game to win and that’s it. We are playing at home and we are coming off a terrible performance in the last match. We will have to face a team that is well launched and has particular characteristics: they are on average very young, they have great energy and reactivity, but we also know they will be missing an American. We arrive from a particular week, as is normal. A lot has been talked about and said, but the boys are focused on the work they are doing in the gym. We need to give answers to ourselves, to the club and to our fans and for this we will have to fight, even before worrying about playing basketball.”
