BARCELONA – Barcelona President Joan Laporta ensures that Xavi Hernandez will continue to coach the Blaugrana – his nickname Barcelona . In fact, he said Barcelona had never held talks with other coaches because Xavi Hernandez was the main priority.
Previously, Xavi Hernandez stated that he would leave Barcelona at the end of the 2023/2024 season. The 44 year old coach believes that El Barca needs another figure to improve their performance next season.
Meanwhile, Joan Laporta said Xavi Hernandez had changed his decision to continue coaching Barcelona. He admitted that this was good news for Barcelona.
“Xavi has expressed his joy at remaining at Barca, continuing this project and developing together. We are very happy. This is very good news for Barca,” said Joan Laporta, quoted by X Fabrizio Romano, Thursday (25/4/2024).
Furthermore, Joan Laporta said that Barcelona had never had discussions with other coaches because they were waiting for Xavi Hernandez to change his decision. Apart from that, he explained that Xavi Hernandez is Barcelona’s main priority.
“We didn’t discuss it with other managers because we were just waiting for Xavi to change his mind,” he said.
“Nothing will happen with another coach before the season ends, the only priority is Xavi,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, Xavi Hernandez succeeded in donating the Spanish League title and Spanish Super Cup 2022/2023. However, this season, Barcelona is certain to be without a title after being eliminated from the Champions League and Copa del Rey.
Meanwhile in the Spanish League, Barcelona is currently in runner-up position with 70 points from 32 matches. Robert Lewandowski and his friends are 11 points behind Real Madrid who occupy the top position.
