Nîmes Concede 11th Draw of the Season Despite Missed Penalty: Coach Calls for Improvement

In Dijon, where they missed a penalty which could have given them victory, the Nîmes conceded their eleventh draw of the season (1-1). Which doesn’t help them move forward much.

Frédéric Bompard is “tired of making dummies”. His team, with Châteauroux, is the one which has obtained the most, eleven in total including three in the last six days. The crocodile coach has done his math: “We have lost seven points in the last four matches. That’s a lot, we can’t afford it anymore because the more things go, the fewer matches remain, because Marignane and Châteauroux are winning and move forward.”

“We have to be able to hold the ball a little more, to be more regular in the game”

Winning, Friday March 29, against a DFCO which “was not very good and showed us nothing”, Nîmes did not succeed, despite 34 minutes at 11 against 10, despite a penalty in its favor ( 1-1). “We must be able to hold the ball a little more, which we lose too quickly, to be more regular in the game,” noted the Nîmes coach, Monday afternoon at La Bastide, after training (technical and collective control).

No video feedback but individual interviews

A coach who did not provide video feedback – “on this Easter Monday, I felt that it would have been burdensome” –, preferring to carry out a few individual interviews. “I needed to speak with certain players, to show them some video sequences, not necessarily negative, the objective being to bring positivity and improve.”

Abdoulaye Sané’s ischios

Released prematurely in Dijon, Labonne remained in care this Easter Monday. He will take stock Tuesday morning with the doctor but he only suffers from a contusion on his right thigh.

Nothing serious either for Picouleau, replaced Friday in the 78th, even if he will still be spared this Tuesday April 2 (the young Marwane Hermach was called to replace him). “This had already been the case during the week, I felt stiffness in my left ischio and I didn’t want to take any risks,” explains the left midfielder, not at all worried.

More annoying seems to be the injury to Sané, stopped because of pain – felt after the match in Dijon – in the hamstrings, not those which had delayed his debut in February. He will have an ultrasound this Tuesday, April 2.
An update will also be made for Doucouré, who was withdrawn from Dijon due to painful ischios and is still at a standstill.
