New Multi-Sports Hall and Dojo to Boost Community Sports Infrastructure in Hem (59)

This Thursday, April 11, in Hem (59), the first stone of the multisports hall and the dojo was laid. This future sports equipment demonstrates the Region’s commitment to supporting all territories in the creation and renovation of sports infrastructure, in order to guarantee access to sport for everyone, everywhere.

As part of the New Urban Renewal Program for the Lionderie – Trois Baudets district in Hem, the municipality has considered the construction of a multi-sports hall and a dojo. Strategically located near residences, shops and services, this 1,550 m² room will be easily accessible to residents. This infrastructure will offer spaces dedicated to various sporting activities such as:

  • Judo,
  • Bodybuilding,
  • And versatile activities for school and college students.

The sports infrastructure will be supplemented by exterior development: parking, urban forest, etc.

This future equipment will make the Lionderie-Trois Baudets district more attractive for the inhabitants of the district, but also for the inhabitants of neighboring districts. This infrastructure will become a living and gathering place for residents, where they will feel good. It is also about providing access to sport for everyone, everywhere, so that sport is a vector of social connection. For all these reasons, the Region is providing financial assistance of €300,000 for a total cost of €3,692,913.

An infrastructure that meets the challenges of the rev3 dynamic

As part of the rev3 dynamic, this project integrates architectural elements and technologies to make it a positive energy building:

  • Reinforced thermal insulation of the walls with the use of suitable materials,
  • Strategic orientation of glazing with efficient capture of solar energy in a passive manner,
  • High quality windows,
  • Limitation of energy consumption of lighting,
  • Recovery and use of rainwater
  • Renewable energy production, etc.

Also, optimal accessibility will be guaranteed for people with disabilities.

Global urban renewal

This sports infrastructure project is part of the New Urban Renewal Program for the Lionderie – Trois Baudets district in Hem. In total, three construction operations are planned:

  • The social centers from Lionderie,
  • An annex living space,
  • And the multisports hall, and the dojo.

These three operations aim to:

  • Strengthen economic development and access to training, apprenticeship and employment for neighborhood residents,
  • Contribute to the implementation of the rev3 dynamic,
  • Improve the attractiveness of neighborhoods.

For this, the Region is providing a financial contribution in the amount of €1,071,796 for a total cost of €8,767,913:

  • €471,796 for the Lionderie social center (total cost of €3,165,000),
  • €300,000 for the living space annexed to the Lionderie social center (total cost of €1,910,000),
  • €300,000 for the multisports hall and the dojo (total cost of €3,692,913).
