Freddy Fermin left for the streets in Toronto

Freddy Fermín’s occasional power appeared this Monday during the Kansas City Royals’ visit to Toronto.

The Venezuelan catcher threw it out, with no people on base, in the eighth inning and Kansas threatened to come back. But in the end they fell short and ended up losing 6-5.

Fermín’s connection, off Erik Swanson, traveled 374 feet through left field and was his first homer of the season and the tenth of his big league career.

Home runs were the order of the day. For Kansas, in addition to Fermín, Kyle Isbel also threw it. And for the Blue Jays, Justin Turner did the same, a couple of times, and Danny Jansen.

The victory finally went to Génesis Cabrera, who completed a relief of one and a third scoreless innings, and the rescue went to Nate Pearson. Jonathan Bowlan took the fall by allowing four runs in just 2 2/3 innings.
