NBA playoffs: New York Knicks secure three match points against Philadelphia

Isaiah Hartenstein is close to reaching the quarterfinals of the NBA playoffs with the New York Knicks. Led by the brilliant Jalen Brunson, the team around the German center won 97:92 at the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday (April 28, 2024) and is now leading 3-1 in the best-of-seven series. Game five will take place on Wednesday night (May 1st, 2024) in New York, the Knicks have the first of three match points at home.

Hartenstein committed his fifth foul before the final quarter, coach Tom Thibodeau then put the 25-year-old on the bench and didn’t play him again in the remaining twelve minutes. Hartenstein, who would only have been out of the game after the sixth foul, scored eight points and, by his standards, four rebounds.

Knicks record for Brunson

The two teams played a thrilling game. Brunson dominated for the Knicks and scored a franchise-high 47 points. Never before had a professional from the club achieved such a result in the playoffs. There were also ten assists.

Reigning MVP Joel Embiid also achieved a double-double for the Sixers (27 points, 10 rebounds). Brunson made the decision with two free throws five seconds before the end. New York won the first two games of the series at Madison Square Garden.
