Villeneuve-Tolosane Badminton Players Fulfill Olympian Dream as Olympic Flame Scouts

Friday May 17 will be an unforgettable day for four badminton players from the Villeneuve-Tolosane badminton club. Awen Pichot, Florent Navarro, Claudia Caron and Ghislain Saulnier will realize an Olympian dream by becoming scouts of the Olympic Flame.

They will be accompanied by 20 other scouts during an exceptional afternoon and evening that everyone will engrave in their memory. It will also be recognition of a sport which has grown and united in the heart of Occitanie and Haute-Garonne.

The regional league was created before the Federation and the region represented a large pool of bad players. At that time, the meetings took place at the Halle aux grains, an emblematic place in Toulouse.

The Occitanie league and the departmental badminton committee organized a grandiose event for the arrival of the Flame on May 17. Collective relays of 24 scouts will take place within the confines of the small sports hall in Toulouse, staged by choreographer Gaetan Verbeck. Then, it will be the passing of the torch to two flame bearers towards the Stade Toulousain. These carriers are high-level international champions: Florence Delgal, multi-medalist at the French para-badminton championships, from the Blagnac club and Arthur Wakhevitsch, multi-champion of France as a youth and former member of the Villeneuvois club.

To participate in this evening, you will need to register in advance. The doors of the small sports center will open at 4 p.m. and the relays will take place from 6:20 p.m. until 6:35 p.m.

The evening will continue with numerous activities until 10:30 p.m.
