MLB Betting Strategy: Over/Under Pick for Astros vs. Royals Game

Unfortunately, yesterday we lost our first bet using the lucrative “offense breakdown” system when the Yankees were unable to come from behind against the Marlins. On the other hand, we have a return of 3-1 with this strategy and we will come back to it later this year.

The only other bet I took was that the White Sox team was going to outscore Cleveland by 2.5 runs at odds of 1.87. It was a winning pick, so we’re 1-1 with premium baseball picks from MJPicks.com (a platform where we hold a 25-11-3 record so far in 2024).

Today, I say that 4.5 runs will be scored in the first five innings of the duel between the Astros and the Royals.

It’s natural to consider a score bet by looking closely at the starting pitchers, especially when considering the first half of the game. In this American League meeting, Hunter Brown should face Brady Singer.

Brown is entering his second full season in the Major Leagues. Last year wasn’t necessarily a big success, though. However, his earned run average of 5.09 will not scare anyone.

He got off to a strong start to the 2024 season, pitching four scoreless innings against the Yankees, although he allowed four hits and a few walks. Then it got worse when he gave up five runs in three innings against the Rangers. In this match, he allowed four more free passes, which is a cause for concern. Out of 80 pitches, only five sent batters through the air.

As for Brady Singer, he is also coming off a disappointing 2023 season. In fact, he finished with a pretty high ERA of 5.52, in addition to a WHIP stat of 1.45.

I feel like this total is a little low in part due to his strong start to the season. In fact, his 0.68 average is impressive at first glance. But remember, his last start was against the very weak White Sox offense, so there’s nothing to suggest he can be great. We have to stay realistic here.

Now, will the attacks do enough damage to lead us to victory? Obviously! If you look at the OPS statistic, which measures both a player’s ability to get on base and his power, the Astros rank ninth in major league baseball, while KC is tied for 10th with Cleveland . In other words, both teams have better-than-average offensive lineups.

For me, the odds are too low so I will take the “over” in the first half of the Astros-Royals game. Good luck!
