Women’s Universe Tour: Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Transformed into Sports Epicenter with Zumba MasterClass, Exhibitions, and Charity Race

On the weekend of April 13 and 14, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria will be the capital of women’s sports as it will host the XXV edition of the Women’s Universe Tour, a tour of different provincial capitals integrated into the framework of the “Women’s Universe” program of the Higher Sports Council, the Young Sports Foundation and promoted by Iberdrola. For two days, the El Rincón park in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria will host a 3,000 m2 open-air sports complex offering a sports and information space about the 32 Federations promoted by Iberdrola, where visitors will be able to enjoy sports practice, competitions and exhibitions with local athletes and national champions. One of the great performances will be given by the queen of Zumba Jessica Expósito, with two master classes between Saturday (7:15 p.m.) and Sunday (11:00 a.m.).

The instructors at the Go Fit, S3 Centro Deportivo Las Rehoyas and Centro Deportivo Tamaraceite gyms will encourage all attendees to practice sports with their fitness classes adapted to all audiences. The 27 Federations and their respective monitors attending the event will be in charge of collaborating in the development of activities that range from the mini soccer field to the climbing wall, including the archery pit, the boxing ring, the volleyball court. or badminton and the ball wall.

The disciplines of judo, taekwondo, wrestling and karate will make their respective exhibitions on the tatami enabled in an area of ​​the Women’s Universe Tour. Among the different activities, you will find prominent international athletes such as the Olympic skater Sara Hurtado or locals such as the surfer Lucía Machado (godmother of the Tour in this city), the volleyball player Saray Manzano (godmother of the charity race), the boxer Davinia Pérez or the paddlers Miriam Aranaz and Cristina Correa.

The starting signal will come with the Forum to be held at the IES Pérez Galdós in which, moderated by the Olympic skater Sara Hurtado, the athletes Marta Mangué (bronze medalist at the London Games) will participate; Lucía Machado (surfer and European runner-up); Lorena Machado (Canarian wrestling) and Marta Montaner, from the Young Sports Foundation.

Another of the highlights of the Tour is the charity race ‘Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in shape for Equality’, starting and finishing at Parque del Rincón (9:00 a.m.). Registration is 5 euros for those over 12 years of age and 3 euros for those under that age. The entire proceeds from the sale of numbers will go to the Canaria Main Foundation.
