Lisa Leonhardt Secures Runner-up Title at German Veteran Judo Championships

Last weekend, over 450 judokas met in the ring arena at the Nürburgring for the German veteran title fights, including Lisa Leonhardt from Laiching.

The Laichinger was able to win the first fight early with a counterattack technique against Julia Eckert from Hamburg, before she scored in the second fight against Verena Aßmuth from Salzkotten. Lisa Leonhardt was also able to end this fight with a holding technique on the ground before the end of the fight time; in the quarterfinals she met Aßmuth’s clubmate, Sina Westbomke.

Due to a carelessness on the part of the woman from Laiching, the opponent from North Pure Westphalia managed to take the lead, which the woman from Laiching was able to equalize a short time later. Shortly before the end of the fight time, Leonhardt also managed to win the fight.

In the subsequent semi-final she left nothing to be desired and won the fight against Sabrina Blau from Schwetzingen early after just 15 seconds of fighting time. In the final, the Laiching judo trainer Christin Kubatzik from Brandenburg faced off, but unfortunately Leonhardt couldn’t get into the fight properly and had to admit defeat in the end. Nevertheless, she can be proud of second place and thus the runner-up title at the German Judo Championships.

On Sunday, the comparison battle between the regional associations followed, here Lisa Leonhardt started with a somewhat decimated team for the Württemberg Judo Association, after strong fights the Württemberg team reached seventh place.
