Le Portel (7th) dampened Manceaux’s play-off hopes on Sunday. The Northerners won 85-76 against MSB, during the 32nd day of Betclic Élite.
Largely dominant during the first ten minutes (29-16), thanks to the precision of David DiLeo (3 out of 3 from three points in the first period), the ESSM scared itself just before halftime. Eric Girard’s players saw Le Mans come back to seven points (51-44) with the work of William Howard (13 points, 6 rebounds).
MSB almost eliminated from the race for the play-offs
The Manceaux returned from the locker room with the same intentions and dominated the third quarter to get within two points, before breaking down in the money-time. A defeat which should bury their hopes of qualifying for the final phase for good.
With this victory, Le Portel consolidates its place in the Top 8 and moves a little closer to a historic first qualification for the Betclic Élite play-offs.
