A few days ago the 2024 World Judo Championship was held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates and the representatives of Guanajuato, Prisca Awiti and Paulina Martínez, achieved two victories and continue to add points in the ranking towards Paris 2024.

The competitions in Abu Dhabi lasted three days and were organized by the IJF (International Judo Federation), so points were awarded for the ranking towards Paris 2024.

The Olympian in Tokyo 2020, Prisca Guadalupe Awiti Alcaraz of the women’s -63 kilogram category, took her only victory by beating the Italian Flavia Favorini, and the dream of going to The City of Light remains intact.

Unfortunately for Prisca, she fell in her next fight against the Spanish Cristina Pérez.

For her part, Paulina Martínez, current Central American and Pan American runner-up, defeated March Maharani of Indonesia in her first fight. Later, Martínez crashed against Argentina’s Sofía Fiora and was out of the competition.

Both Prisca Awiti and Paulina Martinez were the ones who delivered the best results in this Arab competition.

And the thing is, Edna Carrillo -48 kg, Arath Juárez -60 kg and Gilberto Cardoso -73 kg, also attended this judo world championship, but fell in the first phase against the Swedish Tara Babulfath, the North Korean Kwang Chae and Moldovan Adil Osmanov, respectively.
