Kārkliņš and Strazdiņš reach the semi-finals of the BMX European Cup

Both drivers of “AKSSC Valmiera”/”MŠA Valmiera puikas” in the elite class Kārklins and Strazdiņš reached the semi-finals, where Kārkliņš won the fifth place and Strazdiņš won the seventh place in their races.

LRF reports that less than one tenth of a second separated Kārklinu from the first European Cup final in his career in the elite group, while Strazdiņš fell in the semi-final.

In the junior group, after an excellent start, the representative of “BMX Rīga”/RRS Apels won the final, while his clubmate European champion Edgars Langmanis took third place.

In the finals, both students of Edžus Treimanis made it convincingly. Langmanis won all races, while Apels won three races in four races until the final and was second once.

LRF reports that Apel had a perfect start in the finals, who entered the first turn first. He confidently finished first, gaining the first victory of his career in a competition of this rank in the junior group.

Langmanis was in third place for almost the entire final race. It was his third podium in four stages.

Marks Littis, junior of the Swiss national team, finished between the two Latvians. 70 participants competed in the junior group.

In the women’s U-23 group, Veronika Monika Stūriški won the first heat, then finished second and fifth in the next two heats.

In the final, the student of coach Īrtas Kātiņas did not get off to a good start, falling to the eighth place. On the “Silva ziķeru” track, the athlete fought to the fourth place.

For the first time in his career, “BMX Riga”/RRS athlete Roberts Chernov reached the final in the B-15/16 group. The student of coach Jānis Lapsiņas won the fifth place in the decisive race, which is one of his biggest successes in the European Cups.

In the second half of the day, the competition of the fifth stage of the BMX European Cup will be held by children, youth and amateur athletes.

The sixth stage will be held on the same track on Sunday.

Latvia is represented in the Czech Republic by 74 BMX athletes.
