Julien hit solo long balls in the first and fifth innings, both to the opposite field.

Julien signed his first home run game in major league baseball.

The Quebecer also hit a single in the third and in this case too, he ended up crossing the plate. A single by Byron Buxton allowed him to score.

Before the game, Julien had only three hits in 28 at-bats this season.

I had a good training camp, but camp and the regular season are two different things. I just have to build from a game like that. I knew that if I continued to make good contact, the hits would follow.

In the fifth, Julien brought the score to the final count with his first home run in major baseball against a left-hander, Alex Vesia (0-1). Julien has totaled 18 home runs since his arrival with the Twins.

“He took some really good swings,” Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said of his second baseman. This is a great sign for us. »

Chris Paddack allowed two runs and six hits in 4 2/3 innings.

The victory went to Kody Funderburk (1-0). Steven Okert allowed a single to Will Smith before closing the books, getting his first save in the big leagues.

Reliever Alex Vesia (0-1) conceded Julien’s second homer, seeing himself chased after two outs in the fifth.

Before Buxton’s productive hit, Minnesota was going 0 for 33 with runners in scoring position.

The Dodgers’ runs came from a Max Muncy home run and a Teoscar Hernandez double.

The Twins won their first home game this year, on five occasions.

Pablo Lopez will start for the Twins on Thursday in Detroit, against Tarik Skubal of the Tigers.
