Jacksonville Jaguars Sign Linebacker Josh Allen to Massive Five-Year Deal

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Linebacker Josh Allen and the Jacksonville Jaguars have agreed to a five-year, $150 million deal, $88 million of which is guaranteed, a person familiar with the talks said Wednesday.

The person requested anonymity to speak with The Associated Press because the pact has not been officially ratified or announced.

The contract would make Allen the third highest-paid defensive player in the NFL, in terms of average salary, behind Nick Bosa of the San Francisco 49ers and Chris Jones of the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Jaguars placed the franchise tag on Allen in early March as they attempted to reach a long-term deal with him so he could play in Jacksonville as he reaches his full potential. .

Allen, the seventh overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, set a franchise record with 17 1/2 sacks in the final year of his rookie contract, and is just 10 away from the all-time mark. Jaguars (55) established by Tony Brackens (1996-2003).
